In observance of Juneteenth, the celebration of emancipation of the last remaining enslaved persons in the United States on June 19th, 1865, Marion Public Library will host presentations from students discussing the importance of this monumental occasion.

Partnering with Marion's Peace and Freedom Committee, students meet weekly throughout May and June at the Library to receive research help and coaching for their presentations.  The public is invited to attend this culmination of the students' work, some of which will go on to compete at higher level speech competitions.  No registration is needed to attend.
