Area teachers are invited to an open house for educators on Tuesday, August 8th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Marion Public Library. All educators are welcomed to attend this casual meet-and-greet event where we will highlight our resources that can help support their classes and curricula. It will also be the perfect time to renew a Teacher Card* account to ensure access to its benefits for another school year.
We’ll have a number of staff on hand for teachers to connect with:
Whittney Mahle – Our Youth Services Manager with over 10 years of library experience
Kathy Stroupe – Retired school librarian with a wealth of knowledge regarding libraries and literacy
Katie Hughes – A new Librarian at MPL with a knack for connecting teens and tweens with great young adult fiction
David Hepp – Patron Services Manager who can answer questions about digital resources and ebooks
James Lloyd – Workforce Development Librarian and another great resource for all things digital
Please share this with your fellow teachers and staff!
Our partner in early childhood literacy, Let's Read 20, will also be in attendance to discuss ways in which they help encourage a culture of reading in Marion County. They will be distributing checks from United Way to representatives from each school building as part of their financial contribution to continuing the schools' Literacy Nights in 2017-2018.
We hope to see you at the open house! As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions.
P.S. Everyone that attends can enter into a drawing to win a $50 gift card for classroom supplies!
*Teacher cards eliminate all late fees on materials as well as extend the length of time that items are checked out. A valid photo ID plus proof of current employment at a school, preschool, or daycare facility are required to apply for a Teacher Card
