Friday, October 6, 13 & 20 @ 10:00 am
Have you ever wondered about the history of your home and the land it sits on?
Researching when your house was built, how the structures evolved over time, and previous occupants can be not only
interesting, but also helpful for the long-term maintenance of your property. The goal of this class is to provide you with some resources and methods for getting started with learning the history of your home.
Session One: Planning - Understanding research realities and developing goals, and research methods.
Session Two: Building a sturdy foundation - Records and resources.
Session Three: Welcome home - Physical clues in your home and neighborhood.
Each 1.5hr course led by:
Miranda Shield, who joined the staff of the Marion Public Library in November 2021 as an Adult Services Librarian. While she enjoys research of all kinds, genealogical and Historical research has always been among her favorites thanks to years of doing research on her own family. Miranda was able to hone those skills with additional genealogical research training while earning her Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State University. Prior to joining MPL She served as the Reference Archivist and Librarian for the Licking County Records & Archives Center, where she helped patrons connect to historical public records, additionally, she received her Bachelors in History from Kent State University.
